3D BIM modelling allows for the construction of a full 3d coordinated model of a project. This allows all of the information to be stored in one database of which different components can be broke down into different ‘family’s’. Once the initial model has been generated the extraction of information can then be tailored to meet the clients need. This can start from 2d plans/elevations right up to full 3d models. Once the initial database is built it can be updated to suit as detail needs to be added, be this through changes to legislation or structural changes. These changes only need to be added to one file as opposed to updating numerous separate drawings.
