Sections

Sections can be drawn through any part of a building and are usually generated using floor plan and elevation detail to ensure continuity through the entire survey, though they can be provided as a stand-alone item.

They enable comparisons between floors to be easily visualised and can also be used to assess the verticality of walls. As with elevations, they can be a simple 'slice' through the building as a series of boxes to compare wall lines and floor depths through a building or fully detailed to include information through window frames, cornices, skirtings, etc.. They can also include background elevation detail to help understand the impact any alterations would have on the existing layout.
